Conservation
Stewards of the Land
Stewardship is defined as the "conducting, supervising or managing of something, especially the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care."
Stewardship of natural resources is their responsible use -- including conservation -- in a way that takes full and balanced account of the interests of society, future generations, and other species, as well as of private needs, and accepts significant answerability to society.

As farmers and ranchers, the forefathers of Chalk Mt. Ranch and Tree Farm have handed down a legacy of excellent stewardship to each generation.
Today's stewards continue that role with the responsibility that their Ranch is an important part of California’s natural heritage. They are carrying on the pioneering spirit of their forefathers with an insightful and enlightened approach to forestry, conservation and land and wildlife management.

Forestry and ranching continue to be an essential part of life on Chalk Mt., while new possibilities for the future are explored. Plans for permanent conservation of more than 7,000 acres of forest and sensitive habitat land are also underway.
